THE P-SB7T SPIRIT BOX

This is a common ghost hunting tool. The Spooky Boys use it anyway.

The P-SB7T sweeps through radio frequencies. Fast. Continuously. AM band. Reverse sweep. 100 milliseconds between stations. The white noise produced during that sweep, the fragments of audio that exist in the gaps between stations, creates a medium that entities can apparently use to form words. To push sounds into language. That is the theory and the Spooky Boys stand behind it.

This unit has been modified. The sweep rate has been adjusted beyond factory settings. What that adjustment does to the output is something the Spooky Boys have documented across multiple sessions and are not going to fully explain here. What it does to the quality of communication is noticeable. How it is noticeable is the part that stays in the field notes.

The recommended method is the Estes Method. One investigator wears noise canceling headphones connected to the box. Blindfolded. They cannot hear the questions being asked. They cannot hear anything except what comes through the sweep. They report out loud whatever they receive without filtering it. A second investigator asks questions to the location. The separation between question and answer eliminates the possibility that the receiver is hearing what they expect to hear. What comes through cannot be influenced by what was asked. That separation is the point of the method and it is why the results it produces are harder to dismiss than standard spirit box sessions.

You listen. You pay attention. Some of what comes through is nothing. Fragments. Static finding shapes that aren't there. Experience teaches you the difference between audio pareidolia and something that is using the frequency to say something specific and directed and responsive.

The Spooky Boys have been using this unit long enough to know which category most sessions fall into and long enough to know that the sessions that don't fall into either category are the ones worth documenting carefully. Those sessions are in the archive. Not all of them are in the public archive.
