3:13AM AT TUBERCULOSIS HOSPITAL
The University Inn was built in 1917. It was a college until 1938. The Great Depression was bad for enrollment.
But the 1940s is when business really picked up for the afterlife.
The building was converted into a Tuberculosis Hospital. For decades, this place was essentially a waiting room for death. A lot of people died here. I don't want to get too technical, but when you put that many sick people in one building for that long, the walls start to absorb the coughing.
It wasn't until 2004 that they decided to reopen the doors as a Bed & Breakfast for paranormal investigators. This is a genius business model: "Come sleep in the room where someone definitely didn't make it."
Witnesses frequently report an Old Man in a White Coat. Presumably, he is a doctor who is still trying to make rounds. I respect the hustle. Even in death, he’s trying to clock in.
There are also reports of a Woman with a Young Girl. No one knows who they are, but it sure sounds spooky.
There have been numerous reports of mysterious whispers and footsteps in empty hallways.
We were not alone. There were 40 other ghost hunters staying at the Inn. The places was swimming with hunters and we felt like there was too much human activity to do a thorough investigation. So we waited till everyone fell asleep.
We set our alarms for 3:00 AM, which we all know is the witching hour. The hallways were quiet, but the vibe was heavy. We swept the building without thermal cams, EMF readers, DOTS projectors, and audio enhancing equipment. Things were quiet.
Then, we went to the attic.
At 3:13 AM, we were cornered in the attic next to a pile of seasonal storage. We were standing next to a plastic Nativity Scene.
I deployed the Theremin. The instrument let out a signal letting us know something was there with us.
Maybe it was the Old Man. Maybe it was the Woman. Maybe it was something more sinister. I had a hard time falling asleep in my room after that experience. Not because I was scared, but because I was so brave.
